John William Coltrane, Saxophone (aka “Trane”)
There are any number of photos I could have chosen for this post, but I have always been partial to this one taken by William Claxton in 1960 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. I always view this photo as if Coltrane is part of the piece he’s standing in front of. In that regard, I see the artist as a work of art. This feels right when thinking about Coltrane.
